Social x Psychological
Peer pressure may cause people to think that they should make certain decisions. Even if they may not like a certain trend, or a certain item, they will still buy them as they have friends who own them or are pestering them to buy them.
Social x Economic
As we know, the cost of branded goods aren't cheap. Youths even choose to shop at high-end boutiques rather than flea markets/night markets. They usually choose to do this as they feel embarrassed to shop at low class areas. As they choose to do so, they may actually be spending two to three times more then they should. This may lead to them using credit to buy their things. This may lead to overspending, and if they are not careful, bankruptcy. This may in turn affect credit card companies and banks, which may in turn affect the economy adversely.
Social x Religious
Due to the change in times, people do not really follow their religious teachings anymore. An example would be the muslims. As we know, muslims are discouraged from wearing revealing clothes. However, due to the change of times and trends, they ignore these rules/teachings just so that they can feel accepted and not be regarded as traditional/conservative.
Social x Moral
As the youths want to own these goods so much, they will ensure that they will get them eventhough they do not have enough money. Steal, rob, beg, borrow. They will go to extends of doing these immoral activities just so they can get the cash for their wants. More crimes will be committed and thus crime rates in a society will increase.
Psychological x Social
Most youths have the mentality that makes them feel affected everytime they do not get the things in trend that they want. They think that this affects them socially as they afraid that they may loose their friends. They are afraid of being looked down upon and this will affect their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Psychological x Economic
Also, most people share the same mentality that if one dresses well, he is sure to have a high social status (rich). However, this may not be so as well dressed people may include people like us. Normal students like you and i.
Psychological x Religious
As overtime peoples thinking and mindsets change, they ignore religious restrictions to be accepted in the 'in-crowd'.
Psychological x Moral
As owning these goods are really important to them, so they will go all the way to obtain them. This may lead to their morals being tested, and most of the time, their wants are more overpowering than their own moral values.
Education x Social
As fashion is very important to them socially, learning about it will be a benefit to them. They get to understand their passion at a more higher level. Schools such as NAFA and La Salle offer courses such as fashion design to their students. This will definitely give them an advantage if we compare them to their friends who do not receive this kind of education.
Education x Psychological
Education teaches the youth not to follow fashion blindly. They teach us to be tasteful in what we choose and so on. (CME teaches us right from wrong. Personal grooming courses teaches us to groom ourselves the right way.)
Education x Religious
Education also teaches us to be critical thinkers. As critical thinkers, we may come to a point of questioning our own religion and this in turn affects our mindset.
Also, education overrules our right to be self-expressive and trendy. (eg. uniforms :c)
Environment x Moral
As we follow trends, there will be high demands for these items. Production companies will keep producing these items thus wasting our resources. This will in turn affect our environment (eg. global warming) and the welfare of people in the world. (eg. poverty, as those resources could have been used to help these people.)
Race x Social
As there are many different races in the world, there are many different trends as well. What may seem nice and fashionable to one race may not apply to the other races.
Religious x Psychological
As we know, some religions discourage the usage of revealing/tight-fitting clothes. If one is realjavascript:add("","")ly religious, he will abide by the rules and regulations thus his mentality will not be affected no matter how much trends have changed.
Religious x Moral
Westerners and Islamic countries may have racial feuds as those from the islamic countries may feel that their teens are being more rebellious due to the influence from the western countries.
Medicine x Social
As youths want to be accepted by their peers so much, they aim to obtain the perfect image (models in magazines: thin, thick make-up) They think that that is the ideal definition of beauty and therefore try to work towards that image just so that they can fit in. In the effort to shed those few extra pounds, they may become anorexic if the allow their obsession to be thin to continue. Also, the consumption of slimmimg pills may also affect their health as there side effects do exist. Also, extensive usage of heavy make-up at a young age may cause skin damage, the growth pimples and so on.
Media IT x Psychological
Through media IT such as TV, Magazines and the internet, the youths can observe the styles of their idols. Also, because they want to be so much like them, their mentality is that they will have to have what their idols have in order to feel happy and satisfied.
Media IT x Economic
The media can influence people so much (esp naive teenagers) that eventhough they cannot afford these items, they will ensure that they will obtain them. (steal, rob, borrow, beg)
Media IT x Religious
Westerners try to influence the teenagers of religious countries through Media IT and this may cause these teens to become more rebellious.
